Food hygiene is a shared responsibility. However, as individual consumers and as food handlers, we have a huge role to play in preventing foodborne diseases because:
Contaminated food causes diseases such as diarrhoea and cholera which can lead to missing school days, poor academic performance and increased drop out from school
Food left uncovered can be contaminated by insects, animals and dust
Unwashed vegetables and fruits can be contaminated with fecal matter and if eaten raw, can make one sick
